Creative Consulting & Coaching
I help creatives, professionals, and leaders refine their vision and get it out into the world.
How I Work
I draw on over 20 years of experience and training across fields to help clients wherever they’re stuck – coaxing an idea into being, or strengthening the structure of a more developed project; addressing inner obstacles to completing work; or navigating planning and communication with collaborators, funders, and the people with the power to greenlight.
The process always starts with your vision.
What I Offer
Our work together is tailored to your needs: a single consultation to address a sticky problem; a series of sessions scoped around a project or goal; or ongoing sessions for longer-term support. I work with creative professionals and leaders across industries and specialties. These are some examples. If you don’t see your discipline, ask how we can work together.

What’s your vision? How will you bring it to life? Whether your work is narrative, documentary, or commercial, we’ll work together to sharpen and articulate your vision. We can dive into story analysis and structure as you break down a script; work through shoot planning; establish strategies for client or producer management; clarify your communication with actors, collaborators, and crew; or develop compelling pitch and media interview narratives. At any stage of the process, my role is to support you in bringing your vision to life.

Writing is deep, hard work of discovery, and we’re often finding out what we really want to say along the way. If you’re wrestling with process, we can create an accountability framework or explore exercises and approaches to keep you on track or relight inspiration. If structure or meaning feel elusive, we can engage with practices that will help us discern what your inner life is expressing through your work, and build a ride that your audience can feel in any genre.

Creative producing and development are often key to realizing a film’s full potential, but just as often ignored or lost in the crushing shuffle of logistical work to get the film made. When you recognize the need for story development, I can either be brought in to work directly with the director and/or writer, or I can serve as a private consultant and thought partner supporting you in your work with the rest of the creative team.

After 15+ years in the political consulting business, I’ve seen it all. I worked on campaigns, at a large firm, and ran my own firm. During that time, I benefited from working with a leadership coach. Now I can offer something more: coaching with deep knowledge of the field (including the need for strict confidentiality and conflict navigation). I help media consultants with client management, pitch coaching, shoot planning, serving as a strategic and creative sounding board, and offering general support, whether you’re just starting out or feeling that sense of staleness and frustration that can accompany many years in the business.

Delivering your vision is a creative, narrative act. I’ve helped politicians at the highest levels, as well as executives and spokespeople, share their vision with clarity and confidence, whether they were speaking to constituents, their employees, or the media. Our work will go beyond traditional media training. It isn’t one-size-fits-all tips and techniques – it’s about finding your voice, getting clear and grounded in what you want to say, and connecting with your audience.
About me
I’ve worked as a writing coach, directing coach, story consultant, political consultant, communications director, English professor, advertising exec, and writer/director/producer. Through it all, I’ve developed deep expertise in supporting people who want to put an idea into the world.
In my own work, I’ve experienced how terrifying, painful, joyful, and incredibly gratifying the act of developing your vision and sharing it can be. I understand writer’s block, creative paralysis, doubt, structural and communications challenges, and other obstacles from the inside, and I find it rewarding and enriching to help others move through them.
In addition to my professional and personal experience, I bring wide-ranging training and study to bear on my work with clients, including the Technique, which I’ve studied with Joan Scheckel since 2017; an MA in English Literature; study at the New York Film Academy; and Buddhist training.
